Il gruppo rock australiano AC/DC, tra il 1975 e il 2020, ha pubblicato 17 album in studio (15 disponibili in tutto il mondo e due pubblicati solo in Australia), due album di colonne sonore, tre album dal vivo, 11 album video e due album di box set. Sebbene siano stati pubblicati molti singoli degli AC/DC, la band si è sempre rifiutata di pubblicare qualsiasi greatest hits; Who Made Who (che è servito come colonna sonora di Maximum Overdrive di Stephen King), Iron Man 2 e le varie registrazioni dal vivo della band sono comunque vicine ad una definizione di compilation.
Verizon ora rende gli album degli AC/DC disponibili per il download, ma per diversi anni la band si rifiutò di pubblicare i propri album su iTunes, poiché questo servizio normalmente consente il download di singole tracce. Gli AC/DC dichiararono pubblicamente: “La nostra ragione è che crediamo onestamente che le canzoni di uno qualsiasi dei nostri album appartengano insieme. Se fossimo su iTunes, sappiamo che una certa percentuale di persone scaricherebbe solo due o tre canzoni dall’album – e non pensiamo che ci rappresenti musicalmente”. Tuttavia, la band ha finalmente pubblicato l’intera discografia su iTunes nel novembre 2012. Il 30 giugno 2015 il loro catalogo è apparso su Spotify per la prima volta.
I fratelli Angus e Malcolm Young formarono gli AC/DC nel 1973. La band pubblicò due album in Australia prima di pubblicare il loro primo lavoro internazionale, High Voltage con il cantante Bon Scott, il bassista Mark Evans e il batterista Phil Rudd. Nel 1980, meno di un anno dopo l’uscita del fortunato Highway to Hell, Bon Scott morì e fu sostituito dal cantante britannico Brian Johnson, con il quale gli AC/DC pubblicarono il loro album più venduto, Back in Black. Il loro album Black Ice, pubblicato nel 2008, ha raggiunto il numero uno in 29 paesi. In 47 anni della loro carriera, gli AC/DC hanno venduto oltre 200 milioni di album in tutto il mondo, circa 75 milioni negli Stati Uniti. Back in Black da solo ha venduto 25 milioni di copie (50 milioni in tutto il mondo), ed è diventato il secondo album più venduto nella storia (da Wikipedia).
